Santa
A classroom of young students had their childhoods shattered before their very eyes this week when their teacher taught them that there was no Santa. The 5th grade students were handed some seasonal worksheets. One such anti-Christmas propaganda explained that thousands of children send letters to Santa every year and are actually answered by the Post Office. The teacher then assigned the "believers in the magic of Christmas" to a pretend letter from the Post Office to a child that explains why their Christmas list was refused and no presents were delivered.
Lady Smith Junior School in Exeter, Devon made a decision that should have been left up to parents. Although they have issued an apology, more ought to be done. Telling small children the truth about Santa Claus is an excusable faux paus. The school board in this case should get these childrens Christmas lists from the parents (I'm sure they amount to a lot of Nintendo Wii's), hire a fantastic Santa, and have that Santa deliver the presents to these kids while explaining to the kids that he is in fact real and has placed that teacher on his naughty list.
I Believe in Santa Claus
