My thought on 'The Secret'

UPDATE: The radio show/podcast is scheduled for June 23 at 10pm over at BlogTalkRadio. That will be pacific standard time (-8 GMT for nerds) so if you can listen live, the podcast will be available the following day.

I'm planning my next radio gig for BlogTalkRadio.com (slash Chaseblogger) and I've decided to focus my attention on "The Secret." Before "Secret" fans and fanatics alike get up in arms, let me put them at ease.

I have not yet read this book or viewed the DVD (which I still don't know if it accompanies the book, is the same as the book, or what) but what I have heard about it, and the excerpts I have read online have stricken me as remarkably poignant and relevant to this day and age. While I am a Christian, I feel it is important to affirm and claim truth wherever I encounter it. Just because ways of thinking or behaving that can improve your life are not being read directly out of the Bible, does not automatically mean it is untrue or not from God.

If something is to be considered a universal truth, it must be true for EVERYONE who applies it to their life. To say that the Bible is filled with these universal truths but then shoot them down anytime they occur somewhere outside of scripture frazzles my mind. So I am going to thoroughly read this book that others have directly shared with me as life changing for them and highlight where and why I find these truths in this book. While I'm sure I will have some critical thinking on the subject as well, that will not be intent of this show. Stay tuned for show times or the podcast when it becomes available.
