Yesterday, associate professor at the University of Oklahoma and adjunct scholar with the National Center for Policy Analysis, David Deming, testified at a special Senate Environment and Public Works Committe hearing. The goal of the hearing was to examine the media and its handling of the topic of climate change.
On June 27 of this year, Chaseblogger posted a commentary addressing the overplayed dangers of global warming.
"I believe that a line has to be drawn at trying to scare the crap out of people with science that may not be completely on the up-and-up," - taken from previous post.
Deming, during yesterday's testimony, was concerned with the media's overwhelming bias towards global warming.
"In the past two years, this bias has bloomed into an irrational hysteria. Every natural disaster that occurs is now linked with global warming, no matter how tenuous or impossible the connection. As a result, the public has become vastly misinformed."
God has called us to be good stewards of this planet. Wether you choose to accept or deny God's exsistence or authority doesn't surpass the fact that we should not live beyond our environmental means. Whenever practical, we should make lifestyle choices that take into consideration the long term effects of those actions.
The threat of Global Warming can added to the list of items that we are all supposed to be frightened of daily. When you wake up tomorrow, don't forget to be afraid of:
- Killer Bees
- The Avian Flu
- An outbreak of Ebola in the U.S.
- H.I.V. mutating into an airborn strain.
- and the West Nile Virus
