Madonna believes in Jesus and Kaballah

Could Madonna be a "Christian Kabahlist?" No. The reason - it isn't possible. The singer/performer/crazy woman told the BBC that it is possible for her newly adopted Malawian child to remain Christian and follow the teachings of her favorite mystical off-shoot of Judaism. Madonna went on to say that while she studies Kaballah, she also believes in Jesus.

Believing in Jesus is easy to do. Jesus of Nazareth is a historicity documented human being. It isn't hard to find enough convincing evidence to believe in Him. But what about believing what He said about himself? According to the new testament, Jesus Christ made very direct claims that not only was He God, but that all people will find salvation through His death and resurrection. If Madonna accepts the latter, well then following Jesus and following the texts of Kaballah are just plain contradictory.

Perhaps, the mega-star simply meant that she believes in Jesus' teachings and that He taught excellent morals and gave excellent guide lines for living. Well, if that were truly the case, Madonna would be forced to accept Jesus as who He fully claims to be. A classic example of The Trilemma.

Jesus claimed to be God. Therefore, only one of the following three options can true.

1. Jesus was crazy. If this were the case, Jesus couldn't possibly be a great moral teacher. Crazy people make horrible teachers and life coaches for obvious reasons.

2. Jesus was liar. Of course, if Jesus were lying about being God he most certainly could not be a good moral teacher since telling lies is generally considered a bad and immoral thing.

3. Jesus was sane, telling the truth, and really who He claimed to be - God. In this case, Jesus would most certainly be an excellent model for us all to live by and follow.

The point is, there is something about Jesus and whole "Christianity thing" that demands a serious commitment. Either full devotion and attention to stopping the old ways of your messed up life and following Him, or completely and whole heartedly deciding not too. There is just no in between.

Chaseblogger would love to be the first to burst her bubble, but Madonna gave up all of her firsts a long long time ago.
